Currently this book is in the early editing stages and is due out mid 2018. The book will feature a selection of my Law Enforcement images along with expanded text explaining the situations I was documenting and putting the images in context with law enforcement issues today. Initial design concepts are for 60 primary images, with multiple support images and upwards of 40 pages of text. Please check back for updates on the progress of the book and pre-order information. I also expect to release a limited number of special editions of this book.
A copy of this DIY published book was exhibited at the Phoenix Art Museum in August 2014. Published in 1991 by Carpenter and Associates this book has 86 Duo Tone images which document the Santa Anita Racetrack in Arcadia, California. The photographs included in the book were over a four year span and captured moments such as Willie Shoemaker's last race and arguably the best racing colony of jockeys all time. The Introduction was written by The Daily Racing Form's Leon Rasmussen, who details the rich history of this famous venue. Bill Jay, one of photography's greatest historians, wrote the afterword which puts Valentine's images in to context in the world of fine art photography. Hard and Soft bound copies are available. A few limited edition copies , autographed by over 40 horse racing industry legends, are also available. The list of signatures include the follow: Tim Conway (Comedian and horse racing supporter), Charlie Whittingham, D. Wayne Lukas, Laffitt Pincay Jr., Chris McCarron, Gary Stevens, and Eddie Delahoussaye.
